TK ROY NAM DI
Watch capture demos and our intro to the Tone King Royalist MKIII amplifier here:
There are some amp brands that simply go above and beyond and where every product is so perfectly fine-tuned and thought through that it elevates them above the rest.
Tone King is among these top tier brands and it is no suprise that the Royalist series is a home-run. You get 3 very convincng voicings that indeed DO quite believably deliver you 3 very distinct and authentic takes on 3 eras of Marshall small box recipe.
The Royalist is a slightly but still characterfuly tidied up take on a 64, 67 and 70 Marshall small box amp. The Era switch along with the FAT switch on the volume control allows you to easily mimick all 3 and use each one of those voicings in a context where it performs the best. A best of all worlds situation.
The voicing is authentic and characterful, but at the same tima dialed in in a way that the tone will have none of the nastier and quirkier sides that the originals tend to. It is a very tasteful take on the Marshall recipe.
Marshall flavored cleans, edge of breakup, crunch and drive tones are all here in spades and it will also make a wonderful pedal platform amp.
The set features 44 DI captures of the amp and 2 IR's, including the Marshall 1982B 4X12 cab with G12H30 55Hz Pulsonic speakers and a Matchless 2X12 cab with Celestion G12H and G12M speakers. The mics used were 2x Royer R121, a Beyerdynamic M160 and a Neumann U87. Please refer to the full list of included captures in the product photo section.
