The pics only era of ORNG amps is considered to have brought the most iconic ORNG amps into the daylight. The GR100 was still made by Matamp for ORNG and has many similarities with the earlier models, while introducing some aspects that were unique to ORNG.
Although it is very similar in circuitry to the later 120 amps, some elements, like the F.A.C. control are in a different order. This results in a very different tone in these earlier models.
The GR100 especially excells in low and medium gain tones - it has a wonderful, open clean and crunch tones with as much heft and bite as you could ever want. Once it gets past crunch levels, there is a massive build-up of complex and open harmonics that are totally unique to this specific model. The sound gets fatter until it reaches a tone that could only be described as the best fuzz tone ever.
ORNG distortion quality is unique and different from other amps - it has a slightly fuzzy quality to the medium gain tones, but at the same time it always sounds very powerful and punchy - it does not sound lo-fi like some other amps tend to sound that go into a fuzzy tone quality.
Probably one of the most unique sounding amps in our collection and really fun to play, especially once it gets into the massive mayham that only this amp is capable of.
The amp was tracked through a ORNG 4X12 cab with G12H30 55Hz Pulsonic coned speakers, 2X Royer R121, 1X Beyerdynamic M160 and 1X Neumann U87 mics.

Receiving the Captures
