PLAYTHROUGH DEMO OF THE CAPTURE SET
Laney amps fly under the radar most of the time. One important and huge exception is Tony Iommi's use of the Supergroup and pre Supergroup amps with Black Sabbath on recordings that were the cradle for many metal genres to follow.
But here's the twist! I have never heard the term "Laney clean", but what i can tell you is that you will be hard pressed to find an amp with better clean and edge of breakup tones than this. Due to the partridge transformers known to be used in Hiwatts and some notable differences to the Marshall Super Leads that inspired these amps, the Laney has a big, open, detailed and bold clean tone that will rival any Hiwatt, Fender or Marshall with ease.
The punch that comes from this amp is simply unreal. The amp is not very bright, but thanks to the punch one can even dial in rather darkish tones and still get away with it because the punchy mids carry a lot of detail and tactile feedback.
It has a very unique and distinct crunch and dimed tone - it is open and extremely punchy and with more gain it becomes very rich in harmonics. It is a complex and musical tone not to be found anywhere else.
The set features 42 full captures of the amp through a vintage 1968 Marshall 4X12 with Celestion G12H30 75Hz speakers. The mics used were 2x Royer R121, a Beyerdynamic M160 and a Neumann U87. Please refer to the full list of included captures in the product photo section.
