Ever wondered what would happen if a Trainwreck Express hit the gym every single day… for years… and maybe took a little too much pre-workout? Yeah — neither did we.
 
But Carstens Amplification clearly did, because the Billy Corgan Grace amp sounds like the Express after a full-on Hulk transformation.  It’s bigger, meaner, and absolutely furious. And trust us — this thing is VERY, very, VERY angry.
 
This deceptively simple amp is extremely versatile. It can go from super-compressed, smooth lead tones to an open, raw sound that can bite your head off — largely thanks to the extremely sensitive headroom control, which transforms the character of the amp across both extremes and everything in between.
 
So it will not only deliver a ton of authentic Smashing Pumpkins / Billy Corgan tones, it will be a super versatile creative palette for the guitarist, who wants to explore all facets of gain from a single channel amp and who will know how to take full advantage of the exceptional clean-up by volume control.
 
Crunch, drive, lead, high gain — all of it is easy to dial in, with a character of your choice: darker and smoother, or bright, open, and wild. What it won’t do is pristine cleans — for that, you’ll need to roll back the volume control, which… you guessed it… works phenomenally well on this amp.
 
Compared to the Trainwreck Express (which we assume was the inspiration), it stays more solid and composed when driven hard. That said, this is by no means a copy of that circuit — it clearly takes the idea to the next level, and we absolutely love it.
 
The set features 40 full captures of the amp through a Fender closed back 2X12 with Celestion Alnico Cream speakers. The mics used were 2x Royer R121, a Beyerdynamic M160 and a Neumann U87. Please refer to the full list of included captures in the product photo section.
